Santoro then scored again with a takedown and ankle lace before Bono reversed him to lead 4-0. Bono countered a Santoro takedown and scored the takedown for himself to bring him within three points to end the first period (score was 5-2). Bono gets a takedwon in the second period to make the match 5-3 and then uses a gutwrench to tie the score 5-5. Santoro then countered with a takedown and used a leglace to once again, lead 7-5. Bono counters again with a takedown of his own with just 30 seconds left. With seconds remaining, Santoro is called for a caution and Bono ties the match to take it into overtime. In overtime, Bono countered a shot by Santoro but his takedown was called out of bounds. Seconds later, Bono and Santoro get into the same position again and this time Bono scores his takedown to win the match 8-7.

Says Chris, "I just have to keep going. Pat (Santoro) is a hell of a competitor. I thank him for pushing me and making me who I am. This is what I train for. Lincoln (McIlravy) is who makes me get out of bed in the morning. I will have to wrestle smart and hard."
